Geography

Nandikotkur is located at 15.8667°N 78.2667°E. It has an average elevation of 292 meters (961 feet).

Nandikotkur is a mandal (equivalent to County or borough), located 27 km from Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh. It serves as a major transit point connecting important cities like Kurnool and Guntur. The route to Srisailam from Kurnool also traverses through Nandikotkur. The legend says that Nandikotkur is surrounded by four bulls across the four corners of the place and hence the name Nandikotkur.Present MLA is Labbi venkata swamy since 2009.Krishna river is nearest river for this mandal.

Famous Temple

Sri.Veerabrahmendra Swamy temple located on the jeevanjyothi school road is one of the largest & oldest temples of Nandikotkur.The temple is beautiful and adobes the daru ratha for veerabrahmendra swamy.

Manikundala Sri Suryanarayana Swamy temple is famous temple in this region. This is second such temple after Arasavelli in which main Deity is Sri Surya Narayana Swamy. Initially Constructed by Chola Kings and 450 years old. Unique thing about this temple was that Sun rays used to touch the feet of Deity during sunrise in Dhanrmasa. Temple has been reconstructed in 1996 under the guidance of Sri Mallikarjuna Rao, a retired Telugu scholor.

Hanuman Temple is another place to visit. Stutue of Sri Hanumanji is as high as 12 feet.

Venkateswara Swamy Temple is 150 years old.

Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari Temple is also one of the main temple.
People celebrate Dasara and Ugadi Festivals with religious fervor.
