Momota Kanako was appointed the new leader of the group after Tagaki Reni stepped down because of leadership issues.

History

The group was formed on 17 May, 2008 during Stardust Agency's audition event for 3-B Jr.

In 2011, sub-leader Akari Hayami (Blue) stated that she had decided to step down from the group. She retired from the group on 10 April. The group changed its name to Momoiro Clover Z after her departure to reflect the lineup change. The group mentions her absence in the song Z Legend -Endless Revolution-. The "announcer" shouts out "Blue!" with no response.
