    Trivia

    • 1989 is the year in which there were two Parades of Nations. In the first Parade of Nations, contestants in national costumes introduced themselves in the continental order of their countries for the first time, as opposed to the alphabetical order previously. However, they only shouted out their countries without mentioning their names.
    • In the second Parade of Nations, which was a swimsuit and evening gown video, viewers got to know each delegate's name as well as their plans for the future. Misses Austria, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Republic of China, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Paraguay, Peru, Spain and Venezuela did not speak English in the second Parade of Nations.
