As originally constructed,
the hotel was built around three sides of a central atrium

, with the fourth side of the atrium being formed by the rear of the Madejski Stadium's west stand. A bridge across this atrium provides access to the directors and executive boxes in this stand. Access is also available to the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre. More recently, a five story extension has been constructed, forming a wing extending out from the original hotel.
