Mixed martial arts career

At 26 Patt made his professional MMA debut in 2001, at the Extreme Fights promotion. He went on to achieve a 15-2 record and winning the 8-man tournament in under five minutes at FFC 10 before being called on three-week notice to UFC 88 as a replacement to James Lee

The MMA event drew such a crowd, security had to be placed around the event to keep the six person deep crowd from blocking walk ways to vendor booths.

Initially, the Arnold Classic event organizers were skeptical and hesitant about allowing MMA to be part of their event. However, after the seeing the reception MMA received at the Arnold Fitness and Martial Arts Expo organizers have made MMA a yearly event. The UFC or WEC
