 will officially add lacrosse beginning with the 2012-13 season, their members will be playing their last season in the MLC during 2011-12. This will effectively shift the conference further west.

Founding members Adrian College, Albion College, Carthage College, Fontbonne University, Milwaukee School of Engineering, College of Mount St. Joseph and Trine University ratified bylaws on June 2, 2009. The NCAA recognition of the new conference went into effect September 1, 2009 and conference play began on February 13, 2010. Many of the MLC members also field women's lacrosse as part of the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference

 beginning in the 2011-12 academic year. Dan Harris, Director of Athletics at MSOE, is the first commissioner of the conference. Adrian has won the conference's first two titles, and recently competed in the NCAA Division III tournament, losing a first-round game in overtime. It was the first appearance in the national tournament by an MLC team.
