Geography

Martur is located at 15.9667°N 80.1000°E. It has an average elevation of 30 meters (101 feet).
Many people come here for work. More than 150 Granite factories are available which give work to over 6,000 laborers. There are Tobacco factories, Granite Factories, Spinning mills and Steel factory which give emplyoment to over 10,000 laborers and technical engineers. This village pays the highest power bill for its usage. People from Orissa and Rajasthan come here for work. Simply we can say it is a mini India. Apart from this, Martur has its own identity in education by having two Degree-awarding colleges, four Intermediate colleges including one government college and five schools including one government school which has sent many people all over the world.

When it comes to devotional activities, you can find many famous temples here. Gatteswarasami Temple (Shivalaya) is one of the famous and oldest (400 years back) temples in martur.Many people come to this Shivalaya, especially in Karthika Masam. Apart from this we can find, Sai Baba Temple near Boddu Rai centre, Someswaralayam (Shivalaya), Chennkesava Temple (Visnayalayam), Hanuman Temple, Vasavi Kanyaka paramesawari temple in Nagarajupalli center and Vinayakudu gudi (Ganesh Temple) KanakaDurgamma temple, Ramalayam.

Also the people in martur planned for a Kalyana mandapam and collected huge amount of money for the sake of construction. The construction started and in between there are obstacles from the government stating that the land belongs to the Government.There are political dramas behind the obstacles. So lets wait and see whether the Kalyanamandam is going to be constructed or not in the near future. All the best for the people who wish to construct it. Leaders please open your eyes as this property belong to the martur people, please dont stop the development of the town.
