 ice dancer. Aged 15 with her first partner, Justin Lanning, she was the youngest skater ever to win the gold medal at the British Ice Figure and Dance Championships in 1992 . She then teamed up with Philip Askew to win the British title in 1995 and 1996. In 1998, she teamed up with Vitaliy Baranov

on the ice, and the couple were married in 1999. They won the British Ice Dance Championship titles in 2000 and 2001.
In 2009 Marika graduated from Glyndwr University with an Honours Degree in Sports and Exercise Sciences
Now Marika is an ice coach at deeside ice rink where she teaches children and adults how to Figure skate.

She is a Technical Specialist for the International Skating Union.
Marika Humphreys-Baranova was the Technical Specialist in Ice Dance at the 2010 Olympics, , the European Championships in Warsaw 2007 , the Assistant Technical Specialist in Ice Dance at the 2008 and 2006 World Figure Skating Championships.
Marika also trains new Technical Specialists for the International Skating Union.
