Biography

Makpal's father was an artist, her mother was a school psychologist. They had three children, of whom Makpal was the youngest. From a young age she wanted to become a singer. She enrolled at a music school but had to leave because of her inability to master playing the dombra

When Pop Idol fever reached Kazakhstan in 2003, she entered the competition and reached the final twelve easily. Astonishingly, she was eliminated in the seventh round in January 2004.

She immediately started working at her musical career, with the help of producer Erik Tastembekov. Apart from a brief return to Superstars.KZ, she spent 2004 producing video clips and developing a working collaboration with Ivan Breusov, a native of Almaty
