. It is also known as just Maesteg School.(Welsh: Ysgol Maesteg). As from February 2008 the school's official name was changed from Maesteg Comprehensive School to Ysgol Maesteg School. The shorter name was brought in by current head teacher Ms. Ann Carhart shortly prior to the school's move from it's old location.

The school is an ultra-modern complex worth over £17,000,000.

The school's old site was taken over by the newly established Welsh medium school, Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Llangynwyd
