. Madhopur is the small town in the state of Punjab in terms of population. It is the last point in Punjab on the national highway that connects Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of India. This bestows strategic importance on the town and due to this strategic position Madhopur is also known as Gateway of Punjab. Upper Bari Doab Canal start from here, which is best known for it’s Asia's foremost Hydraulic Research Station at the Upper Bari Doab Canal in Malikpur Sujanpur. Madhopur is situated in the picturesque foothills of Kangra and Dalhousie, with the river Ravi flowing close by, the city is often used as a rest-stop before heading into the mountains of Jammu and Kashmir, Dalhousie, Chamba, and Kangra, deep into the Himalayas. Madhopur Head works which date back to the Munhall era.
