College career

Getsy attend the University of Pittsburgh on a full football scholarship. After red-shirting and starting as the Pitt Panthers quarterback, he was beat out by West Allegheny's, Tyler Palko, for the starting quarterback position. He later transferred to the University of Akron where he let the Zips to an 12-13 record during his tenure at the university.

Coaching career

Getsy became the offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach and academic coordinator at West Virginia Wesleyan College in 2009. In 2011 he was hired as the quarterbacks coach under the new staff of head coach Curt Cignetti at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
