On 19 January 1991 the contract passed to London Country North West
(LCNW) from Garston Garage using Leyland Olympian
s. LCNW was subsequently sold to Luton & District, which was then sold to British Bus, which was then bought out by the Cowie Group (now rebranded Arriva). The peak extension to South Harrow was withdrawn on 3 July 1993.
A new contract on fellow London Buses route 142
saw new red low floor buses being ordered for both routes, even though the contract for route 340 was near expiration. The contract was renewed with Arriva on 4 September 2004.
