. Khamgaon used to be the largest trading centre for cotton in Asia.
It has a very extreme climate, the winters are very cold where as the summers are very hot. Summer temperatures can go as high as 49˚C. There are also dry spells sometimes in summer. The best time to visit this place is October to December.
It is connected by Central Railway to Jalamb
Junction with single broad-gauge electrified line. It lies on National highways No 6 from Howrah To Mumbai. Current population is estimated at around 2 lakhs.

The only Pears Soap (export & domestic) plant of Hindustan UniLever Limited which manufactures its leading soaps such as LUX, Hamam, Dove, Liril, Pears,Lifebuoy, Breeze etc, A biggest large unit manufacturing synthetic yarn formerly known as Vardhan Syntex, A Yash Birla Group Company are situated at MIDC.
The town also boasts of having a unit called Hanuman Vitamin Foods Ltd, who estract oil from Mango Kernels, a hitherto waste material. The unit also has a solvent fractionation unit, and is involved in production and export of high value Fats for use in chocolate

Mothi Devi Utsav started from "Kojagiri Pournima" and onwards for ten days.
The temple of wooden statue of great Ganesha called 'Ayyachee Kothi'. Also known by 'Laakadacha Ganapathy'. It is 6 feet tall and unique statue in Maharashtra.
The Jagadamba goddess is the reigning deity of the Khamgaon. A temple dedicated to the goddess is situated west part of the town at 'Ghatpuri' on the way of Pimplegaon Raja. In the month of September there is a huge procession for the Navaratris and people flock in to visit and receive blessings of the Goddess.
Close to Khamgaon is the village Vaghali where an ancient temple of Hanuman
is located. It is 8 km on the way of Buldhana via Botha village. Each year thousands of pilgrims from nearby villages and towns of Buldhana district gather here on 'Hanuman Jayanti' and next day of 'Vijaya Dhashami'. Here also people celebrate the Ganesha Chaturthi.

Khamgaon is the biggest city of Buldhana district. There have been pressing and long standing demands that it should be made into a separate district considering its political, industrial, commercial and educational importance.

History
Mr. Keshavrao Janrao Deshmukh was the first President of Municipal Council of Khamgaon. He played a key role for development of the region like bringing Electricity to Khamgaon, connecting Khamagaon to the railway network, building water reservoir popularly known as ‘Januna Talav’. He also conducted All India Conference of Maratha Shikshan Parishad on 27 December 1917 at his resident at Khamgaon. The Conference was preceded by Rajeshri Shahu Maharaj of Kolhapur. The purpose of the said conference was to uplift Maratha community and Poor on educational front. He was latter bestowed with the title of ‘Rao Bahadur’ by Vice Roy of India, on 1 January 1917, for the outstanding contribution for the development of the region and the society.Politics
