Kaeng Krung is a national park in southern Thailand
, protecting 541 km² of forests within the Phuket mountain range
. It has been declared a national park on December 4, 1990.
The park is located in the northwest of Surat Thani Province
, covering area of the districts Tha Chana
, Chaiya
, Tha Chang
and Vibhavadi
. The territory consists of two mountain chains, with the highest elevation the Khao Sung at 849 m above sea level. The northern part drains via the Khlong Sa toward the Lang Suan River, while the south drains via the Khlong Yan to the Phum Duang River
.
The wildlife of the park include elephants, bears, gaurs, tapirs, tiger, several monkey species as well as many bird species.
