History

Neighborhood was named after military airport Jugovićevo that existed at this location since 1913. Airport gained this name in 1928 and was named after airforce commander Jovan Jugović. Today, airport is not in use and its area belong to military complex Majevica, which was built in 1916 to serve the needs of the airport. During NATO bombing of Novi Sad in 1999, military complex Majevica was heavily bombed and devastated.

Area located in the south of former Jugovićevo airport and Majevica military complex was for long time uninhabited. Construction of first commercial buildings in this area started during the 1990s and was followed by construction of residential buildings. http://www.danas.rs/20060207/vojvodina1.html#1 Today, this area is developing into a modern commercial-residential neighborhood.
