Van Dijk compares the forces of nature and the seasons (birds returning from their annual migrations and trees beginning to bear fruit) to the love between himself and his lover, drawing the conclusion that neither of these events can be stopped. Van Dijk also recorded the song in an English language version, then under the title "Breakaway".
