 and takes it name from Jiao Guang (焦光) who lived in the area during the final years of the Han Dynasty

Jiaoshan is home to the Dinghui Temple (定慧寺), called the Shanguo Temple (焦山山裹寺) in ancient times as well as a a large collection of four hundred or more ancient stone tablets known as the Baomo Xuan (宝墨轩) or Jiaoshan Beilin (焦山碑林), a collection that ranks first in Southern Jiangsu.
