The town lies approximately 9 kilometres (6 mi) north of Świdnica
, and 49 kilometres (30 mi) south-west of the regional capital Wrocław. It is an important railroad junction, located along the major line from Wrocław to Wałbrzych. In Jaworzyna, this line crosses with less important connections to Strzegom
and Kamieniec Zabkowicki
.
In 2006, the town had a population of 5,240.
The lake in the town is often swam in by locals during the hot summer months. A large porcelin factory is the town's largest employer.
