Jagdeva was a Paramara dynasty ruler of Malwa region of central India
who moved to Akhnoor state of north India and led foundation stone of PAWAR Dynasty (AMBA RAIAN).Jagdev's father name was Udayaditya
(1059 to 1086), who was the eleventh of total twenty four kings of great Pawar of Dhar. He had two elder brothers named Laxmandev and Narvarmdev. Jagdev was very valorous.

He was a knight errant who served chiefly under Jayasingha siddharaja, the Gujarati king, being one of that ruler’s most competent generals.Baghelin feared that Jagdeva might soon become king, and she forced the king to insult Jagdev by asking him to return the horse and swords the father had presented to him previously. As a result, Jagdev leaves the court followed by his wife, Virmati, who vows to be at his side no matter what difficulties lie ahead.
After wandering for some time they reach a lake, and Jagdeva leaves his wife while he goes to find lodging in the nearby city. Virmati is then approached by a prostitute and enticed to the brothel of Jamoti on the pretext that Jamoti is her husband's sister. Lalji, son of the kotval (chief of police), tries to seduce Virmati, but she gets him drunk and then kills him with his own sword. She dumps the body from the window, and when the kotval discovers his dead son, he rushes into the brothel to arrest her. However, Virmati, still holding the sword, proceeds to kill twenty-five of the kotval's men. Jagdev eventually finds Virmati and the couple are welcomed by the king of the city.
, which was then known as Wrat Nagari at a place Amba Rann, Rai Jagdeva was worshipper of Mata Amba and Rai was his dynasty which till now Rajas of Dhara state Maharajas and other Pawar Rajas use it. Therefore the place where Rai jagdev stayed was named as AMBARAI which later on chaned to AMBA RAIAN. People of coming generations of Rai Jagdeva Pawar were thus known as AMBA RAIAN.
In the beginning of 12th century he found the state of akhnoor and established his kingdom there and its rulers known as Amba raian rajas. Parmar dynasty has ruled the akhnoor state for 600 years.

Incidence of head offering to Goddess Mahakali
Jagdeva did deep meditation of goddess Jagdambe (Mahakali) Jagdev was tricked by the goddess Kankali into giving her his head, which she demanded as a religious gift (dan ) in retribution for Jagdev's assault on her son, the demon Kalua. Virmati impresses even the bloodthirsty Kankali with her tearless fulfillment of duty, supplying the head upon demand. Eventually Kankali joins Jagdev's head back to his body and revives him. Through this test, Virmati proves herself to be a true daughter of the goddess, and Kankali addresses her as such while Virmati in return addresses Kankali as mother.It is fact that those who are from lineage of Rai jagdeva their necks often remain a bit slanted to one side.Foundation of State of Akhnoor
