 headline in 2008, Dunne decided the festival needed to expand the following year. The 2009 festival included several stages, a campsite, admission fees and a 4,500 capacity as a result. If the 2009 festival is successful, Dunne expects to expand the capacity to as much as 10,000 in 2010. The site which currently hosts the festival can hold up to 20,000 people, with only potential licencing difficulties dissuading Dunne from making maximum use of the site in 2009.

Tickets went on sale on 16 May, priced at €39 for one day and €59 for the weekend.Locals in Mitchelstown were able to buy the 2 day ticket for 39 euro More acts will be announced later.

Camping details were announced on 8 July 2009 and include facilities for as many as 300 people and flushing toilets. The campsite was officially announced on 17 July 2009.

Stages include the Bavaria Main Stage, the Cyprus Avenue Arena (with an 800 capacity) and the Red Bull Village.

2009 line-up

The full line-up was announced on the 22 June 2009. Panama Kings, Pocket Promise, SetMaker, Nicole Maguire and Gillian Verrecchia were added on 26 June 2009.

Festival site

In 2010 Indiependence was be held on a new site. The site is 40 acres (161,874.4 m²) situated at Deer Farm under a mile from the centre of Mitchelstown. The site which is a combination of grassland and hardcore is located on a limestone basin at the foot of the Galtee mountains. This means its dry and when it does rain, it drains well. The number of stages also increased in 2010 to 4 covered stages.

The Square was a new addition for 2010. This festival has its origins in the square in the centre of Mitchelstown so there is a bit of history in the name. The Square was a 1,000 capacity tent showcasing some of the best up and coming talent that Ireland has to offer, as well as housing the nightly Silent Disco
