Two year-old season

Include was a slow developing colt early in his career and only raced two time as a two year old finishing out of the money once and third in his second start for annual earnings of only $4,280 for the year.

Three year-old season

At age three, Include finished off the board in his first start and then reeled off four straight wins. In April 2000 he finally broke his maiden in his fourth attempt. He won that maiden special weight race at a distance of seven furlongs at Laurel Park Racecourse and crushed the field by 9½ lengths. Then he scored wins in two straight allowance races in the summer of that year in his home state of Maryland, both contested at Laurel Park. The first was a nine furlong dirt race that he won by three lengths and the second was an eight and half furlong race that he won by 8¼ lengths over a field that required multiple winners. He cap stone race of the year was a stakes win in the $100,000 Vincent A. Moscarelli Memorial Stakes at nine furlongs at Delaware Park in which he dominated his competition winning by 9½ lengths and pulling away defeating Judge's Case, Lightning Paces. He finished his sophomore season with a record of (5): 4-0-0 with annual earnings of $92,880.

Four year-old season

In 2001, Include had the best year of his career which culminated in being awarded Maryland's Champion Older Male and Horse Of The Year.  and trained in Maryland so many in the crowd threw their support behind Include even though there had only been three Maryland winners of the "Special" before 2001. In that race Include was listed as a 5/2 second choice on the morning line in a field of seven graded stakes horses from around the country. Include broke slowly but made up ground before the famous "Club house turn" at "Old Hilltop" and placed himself third rounding the track. He made a strong charge at the top of the stretch, passing everyone as the local crowd went wild. Dave Johnson announced that "Include was pulling ahead and that "the local horse was winning one "for Maryland." He won the Pimlico Special Handicap at nine and half furlongs in 1:55.3, defeating Albert the Great, Pleasant Breeze and Milwaukee Brew.

He followed up his "Special" win with another big score in the $500,000 grade-two win Massachusetts Handicap
