As a result of his hosting of the midweek Soccer Specials Ian has been affectionately dubbed 'Payney' by co-pundits and fans. On 15 April he was caught waving at the camera.

On 9 May 2010, it was reported in the Daily Mail that Ian Payne had resigned from Sky Sports. The Daily Mail commented 'Payne never settled as a television anchorman'.

Back to radio

Since June 2010 he has started broadcasting with Radio 5 Live again, presenting Up All Night, 5 Live Sport and Tony Livesey
