Thereafter he got admission in Patna Science College and passed pre-University from there. Did Post Grad from Patna University, and stood 1st in 1st Class both in B.A.Hons. and M.A. (Sociology).

Hetukar Jha got married to Smt.Indira Jha in 1960 and has three sons Tejakar Jha, born in 1968, Shrutikar Jha, born in 1972, Madhukar Jha, born in 1975. He donated all his family heirlooms to the Chandradhari Mithila State Museum, Darbhanga, to create a gallary on the name of his father late Baldeo Jha.
In 1984-85 he was on the interview-board of Fulbright Scholarship offered by USEFI. He also had a two year stint as Director of Shulabh Institute of Social Sciences.
