In the 1920 Olympics he won a bronze medal in the 4×200 m freestyle relay event and was fourth in his first heat of 100 m freestyle event, fifth in the semifinal of 400 m freestyle event and third in the semifinal of 1500 m freestyle event and did not advance in all occasions.
