. The GPCC would organize Indian nationalist campaigns during the Indian freedom struggle, and after independence in 1947, it became responsible for supplying candidates of the Congress in local and state election campaigns.

In November 2007, the Congress released a list of its party contestants for the first phase of two-phased elections in Gujarat.
