. It derives its name from "Gudula valleru", meaning "Land of Many temples".
It is located on Gudivada-Machilipatnam route, well connected by road and rail to Vijayawada (55 km), Machilipatnam (26 km) and Gudivada (8 km).

Gudlavalleru is located at 16.3500°N 81.0500°E. It has an average elevation of 1 metres (6 ft).

Highlights

Gudlavalleru is one of the major hubs for producing rice due to the vast number of rice mills in and around it. The Village was awarded the best panchayat award. The village had a rice mill in 1901 itself (The rice mill is still working both raw & boiled rice mill as on Sep 2009).

Gudlavalleru was also awarded as one of the best panchayats in India. Gudlavalleru is also the venue for great educational institutions. This village has a polytechnique and an Engineering college which were established by A.A.N.M & V.V.R.S.R society. Both these colleges are among the top ranking institutes in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Other notable colleges are the S.E.R.M educational institutions, ITI college etc.
It has various educational institutions, where one can get kindergarten to 12th (inter), general degree to technical and even master degree programs. It has a feed mixing plant, Milk chilling centre, Government Hospital, Government elementary school, high school and degree college, Rice mills, Banks and many temples. It is famous for Poultry and Dairy. The first landmark Bank, in cooperative sector was started from Gudlavalleru. The cattle mela that takes place on every Friday for cattle trade, is famous all over the state. It is a well-developed village with facilities like Medical, Educational, Agricultural etc., The famous Polraj canal passes through Gudlavalleru from Britishers time.

More recently, the Lions Club of Gudlavalleru was established collectively by a group of service-oriented individuals. The club has grown exponentially since then to become the largest club in South India. Extensive services by this club, like Anna Danam, Medical camps, Clean and Green awareness programs etc have catapulted the prestige of Gudlavalleru into a premier village and has resulted in numerous awards for the club. The club has been voted the best regional club continously.

Famous Phsyciatrist and Gynecologist late Dr. Gudlavalleti Lakshman Rao was from this village. He resigned military services and established nursing home in Gudlavalleru in 1945. Late Sri. Vallabhaneni Rangaiah Chowdary, famous agriculturist, was also from Gudlavalleru. Cooperative movement from Punjab state was brought to South India and the first landmortgage bank in South India was opened in Gudalavalleru by Sri. Gudlavalleti Venkataratnam Pantulugaru. For his achievement he was awarded as "RAOSAHAIB" by British Government.

Many prominent Industrial, Social and Political leaders like Kosaraju Venkata Rama Krishna Rao, Valluripalli Seshadri Rao, Vallabhaneni Venkatadri, Dr.C.L.Venkat Rao. The first person to travel to America from Krishna district, Barrister Abdulla Mohammed is also from Gudlavalleru, who served as the first secretary and later vice-ambassador at the Indian Embassy in Washington for 30 years from 1949 to 1979. The first "Massey-Fergusson" tractor ever imported to Andhra Pradesh from America was sent by him to Gudlavalleru to help the agriculture activities there.
