Andrew Walton, the spokesperson for the diocese, said that the diocese would either renovate and/or expand the existing Gloucester Catholic or move it elsewhere. Walton said in 2008 that 60% of the families with children in the school live in Gloucester County. The diocese said that a survey polling parents from fifteen elementary school and thirty parishes indicated support for the idea of relocating the school.

Gloucester Catholic's first ever state championship was delivered by the 1964 basketball team who won the Group B title in Atlantic City Convention Hall. As South Jersey's number one ranked team, the Rams were led by co-captains Jack Fink, Haddon Heights, NJ and John Murphy, Gloucester, NJ. Team members included future division one college players Bill Somerset, Audubon, NJ who played for Seton Hall University, Carmine Calzonetti, Audubon, NJ who played for and later was assistant basketball coach at St. John's University in New York, and Drew Nolan, Gloucester, NJ who played for Temple University. Other key players that year included Mike Baker, Audubon Park, NJ, Bud Shodder, Gloucester, NJ, Rich Cosentino, Barrington, NJ, John Hayes, Audubon, NJ, Paul Heitman, Gloucester, NJ, Lou Pirotta, Camden, NJ and Ernest Hodur, Gloucester, NJ. Coach Ray Ford's team posted a 22-1 record during "that championship season." Coach Ford, who's a legend in Gloucester City youth sports, was assisted by Dick Talley and future New Jersey Hall of Fame coach Art DiPatri.

The school was recognized as the Group B winner of the NJSIAA ShopRite Cup in 2006-07. The award recognized the school for achieving a tie for 3rd in Girls Soccer, a tie for 3rd in Boys Swimming, 2nd in Boys Bowling, a tie for 3rd in Boys Basketball, 1st in Baseball, a tie for 3rd in Softball, 2nd in Boys Tennis, 1st in Boys Golf.

The softball team won the Parochial South B state sectional championship in 2001 with a 1-0 win over St. Joseph High School

The 2006 boys tennis team won the Non-Public, South B state sectional championship with a 3-2 win against Bishop Eustace. The team repeated the feat in 2007 with a 3-2 win vs. Wildwood Catholic High School in the final matches of the ournament.
