, of which it is a municipal unit. Population 8,429 (2001 census). Filippiada is divided into smaller regions entailing Old Filippiada, New Filippiada, and Elefterochori. In ancient times, Filippiada was known as Charadron (Greek: Χάραδρον) during the 8th and 7th centuries BC. There are many sites such as Saint Bessarion Church, the monument in honor of the Bizanomachon (Greek: Μπιζανομάχων), the Lake Ziros, the town square, the square of the Pelargon (Greek: Πελαργών), beautiful forests and plains. There are many cafes, taverns, clubs, bars, hotels, and many grocery shops.

Information

Much of the houses were stone built until the 1960s. Electricity arrived in the same year. Vehicles arrived in the 1970s, the pavement of the main road and television arrived in the 1980s and computer and internet are rarely known in the beginning of the 21st century and up to date technology are not seen.
