government, for the operation of freight services over a 5094 km (3,165 mi) broad gauge
rail network comprising sections which, before nationalisation of the railways
in 1948, were operated by the following foreign-owned companies:
Buenos Aires Great Southern Railway
and Ferrocarril Rosario y Puerto Belgrano

after 1948.
