. The population in 2001 was 4553, its density is 1121.42/km² and the area is 4.06 km². Faja de Baixo is surrounded by mountains. It is located in the western part of the island of São Miguel
and is connected by roads linking Fenais da Luz and Ponta Delgada. The mountains which are covered with lovely trees are to the northeast while farmlands cover most of the parish. The main industry are agriculture. It is one of the most densest and one of the smallest parishes in Ponta Delgada and the island of São Miguel
