East Jefferson High School was built in 1955 in a residential neighborhood. The school serves grades 9-12. It is a part of the Jefferson Parish Public Schools
system. The school has a rich music/band tradition. The band is referred to as "The Miracle Band from Warrior Land"
Ricky Chapagrall and Ronnie Chapagrall, class of 1975, wrote the Bleu Raeders Cadence, a derivative of the East Jeff Cadence (which they also wrote). David Arthur wrote the melodic parts (East Jeff Class of 1977). This cadence was used by the Championship Bleu Raeders Drum and Bugle Corps. This cadence is used by L.S.U., Ole Miss, and schools and colleges along the Gulf Coast.
