Combinatorics
Combinatorics is a branch of mathematics concerning the study of finite or countable discrete structures. Aspects of combinatorics include counting the structures of a given kind and size , deciding when certain criteria can be met, and constructing and analyzing objects meeting the criteria ,...

Chemistry
Chemistry is the science of matter, especially its chemical reactions, but also its composition, structure and properties. Chemistry is concerned with atoms and their interactions with other atoms, and particularly with the properties of chemical bonds....

Introduction

In a dynamic combinatorial library, all constituents are in equilibrium. The interconversion of library members into one another is through a reversible process that can involve covalent or non-covalent interactions. The composition of the library is determined by the thermodynamic stability of each of the library members under the particular conditions of the experiment.

Current Applications

DCC is useful in identifying molecules with unusual binding properties, and provides synthetic routes to complex molecules that aren't easily accessible by other means.
