 schools. The new Douglas Academy building replaced the old school with a modern new look from the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year, with the new building said to be bigger, more spacious and better equipped than the previous building.

In 2002 and 2008, teams from Douglas Academy were chosen to represent the United Kingdom at the European Youth Parliament
