On Sunday, July 8, 2007, an event celebrating the dedication of Doran Park was held prior to the Bourne Braves baseball game. As the centerpiece of the entire Barry J. Motta Athletic Complex at Upper Cape Tech, Doran Park serves as the model for many of the Cape League fields in the future. Almost a year later, on June 11, 2008, the Bourne Braves held a lighting celebration to commemorate Doran Park’s new minor league caliber lights, a gift from the Doran family. Beginning with the 2008 season, the Bourne Braves Monday to Saturday home games started at 7 pm with Sunday games remaining a 2 pm start. Among the speakers at the lighting ceremony was former Braves’ and Red Sox ball player Lou Merloni
