word dikshita which means "the initiated". They are said have given the name by Rajah Vikramjit of Ujjain
about 50 B.C. They claim to be Suryavanshi Rajput
s of Ayodhya. The founder of the clan was a Rajah Durg Bhao, who is said to have immigrated from Ayodhya to Gujarat in the remote past, where his descendents were known as Durgbansis. One of his descendents, a Rajah Kalian Sah entered the service of Rajah Vikramjit of Kanauj, was initiated into the royal household. The clan thus became known as Dikhit. There chief was a Rajah of Samoni in Banda District
