Linden had been plagued with an apparent drug problem for years. On the night of October 5, 1997, she died of a heroin overdose at home at the age of 36. Her boyfriend, Russel Ainsworth, was acquitted of manslaughter charges in her death but sentenced to two and a half years for supplying the drug.
