David R. Thompson (born 1930) is a United States federal judge.
Thompson was born in San Diego, California. He received a B.S. (Business) from University of Southern California in 1952. He received a LL.B. from University of Southern California Law School in 1955. He was in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1957. He was in private practice of law in San Diego, California from 1957 to 1985.
Thompson was a federal judge to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Thompson was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on October 7, 1985, to a new seat created by 98 Stat.
