The name Damaramadugu was derived from an age-back Lotus Pond which was being called Thamara Madugu that used to be there where in now a huge High School building stands. 'Thamara Madugu' in Telugu language

The local leaders and authorities of this village further localized the scheme tailored it to suit the needs of this village’s poor people who mainly used to depend on daily-wages earned by working in paddy fields. The scheme was implemented by giving one kilo of rice on a daily basis to deserving poor families as a portion of their daily wage which eliminated the root cause for any misuse from both the ends of local distributing authorities and receiving people.
