Cypress Communications operates a nationwide private VoIP network engineered for 99.999% availability and voice prioritization with no single point of failure. Quality of Service (QoS) is managed form the handset across the building LAN/WAN and then out across the IP network to the PSTN. It is a fully meshed network with logical and virtual paths to/from each city, connecting providing redundant connectivity to each metropolitan area. The network is supported by redundant devices to ensure maximum availability of voice and data communications. The network is designed to automatically detect potential faults and self correct in order to maintain premium service levels.

The VoIP signaling layer of the Cypress Communications network delivers the calling features to the user's desktop and comprises a carrier-grade softswitch, a multimedia communications server and a unified messaging platform. These components leverage the following VoIP signaling protocols—SIP, H.248 and Media Gateway Control Protocol. All VoIP signaling components are located in geographically diverse data centers to provide redundancy and high availability.
