Coaching career

Modkins began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at his alma mater TCU in 1995. He was promoted to the position of secondary coach in 1996 and then coached the Horned Frogs' tight ends in 1997.

, to coach running backs. Gailey was the offensive coordinator. Modkins left his spot with the Chiefs to coach the same position for the Arizona Cardinals

. On January 23, 2010 Gailey named Modkins his offensive coordinator, but when Gailey was hired he said he was going to be running the offensive plays, so Modkins will be mainly teaching the running backs.
