Personal life

Nemec's mother was a graphic artist as well as a painter, writer and poet. His father, Joseph Charles Nemec III, worked in the film industry as a set designer and production designer. His grandmother, Nancy Reed, nicknamed him "Corky".

He is still close friends with fellow late-1980s teen heartthrobs and rappers Brian Austin Green

According to the website for Perfect Union Lodge #10 in San Antonio, Texas, Joseph C. Nemec IV is also a Master Mason of the Freemasonic Order, having joined the Lodge in 2000. Nemec was inspired to become an actor after watching the children's film The Goonies
