The first section of that line to open for passenger trains was between and , which was formally opened on 3 March 1835, with normal services beginning either the next day, or on 9 March 1835. Corbridge was an intermediate station on that line, between and Hexham.
on weekdays and Saturdays, with some evening trains continuing on to Carlisle. Many daytime eastbound trains continue to Sunderland and Middlesbrough. There is also an hourly service each way on Sundays, with all trains running through to Carlisle.
