History

The station originally signed on back in 1927 as CJCJ, an AM radio station and has gone through various ownerships, callsigns, frequencies and formats over the years' most notably from 1964 to 1987 as CKXL 1140 then owned and operated by Moffatt Broadcasting. In 1996, the station moved to the FM band and changed formats to a country music

/top 40 hybrid as Kiss FM, with the CKIS calls (previously, they were used by CHUM Radio-owned CKGM Montreal, its original calls). "Pirate Radio with Chris Sheppard" was a featured show on the station at the time. The station changed calls to CHRK in 1999 and format to classic rock
