History

Boston Metro Opera was founded in 2008, and already, it has established a reputation for being "...a robust new company with a penchant for trendsetting productions" and New England's premier 'new opera' opera company. Since 2009, Boston Metro has produced fifty new works including eleven world premieres

Festival

As part of its new music initiative, Boston Metro Opera sponsors an annual festival devoted to new Classical vocal music called the Contemporary AmericanaFestival. Each year, the programs for this event highlight new operas, art songs, and choral works, chosen through an International Composers' Competition. Past festivals have included:
