Career

Starting his career as a hip hop singer, Boom released his first single "Boom Up" in 2006, and his second single "질러" in 2007. He was originally part of the band "Nu Clear".

However, he gained popularity through his comic appearances on variety shows such as X-man

and Love Letter. He went on to hosting shows such as MNet's School of Rock, although it was not until 2008 where he became well known as an MC through popular shows such as Idol Show

On October 29, 2009, Boom was enlisted in the Korean Navy. He was to report to the 102 Replacement Depot in Chuncheon for his basic military training on the 29th. After his six week training, he will be serving Korea for 22 months and will return in 2011.

Boom last appeared March 5, 2010 in an Armed Forces Television event where he was the MC for USO type show featuring Korean girl group Kara. During the performance, he was dressed in a Korean Navy enlisted dress uniform.

Boom was discharged from the army on August 22, 2011 and was welcomed by his Boom Academy members Leeteuk, Eunhyuk, and Shindong; also idol star Jay Park was there .
He released a music video "Boom is Back" to celebrate his discharge and it was well received by the fans.
Boom returned to ‘Strong Heart’ in September 2011 and he will be hosting SBS’s ‘Young Street‘ .
