A meet was named after him after Roggy's death, who was killed two days short of his 30th birthday. The meet name became the New Jersey International Meet in 1988, with the Bob Roggy Memorial Javelin Throw a feature event within it. Roggy was killed in an accident where he fell out of the back of a pick-up truck in 1986 in Houston, Texas
