History

It was established in 1948 from donations made by the Birla Education Trust, and inaugurated by Lord Mountbatten

, then the Governor General of India on 14th June 1948. The college rose to prominence under the stewardship of Prof. Junarkar and Prof. K.M. Dholakia. It is one of the few colleges in India that provides education using the credit system. The first engineering college in the State has so far awarded degrees to over sixteen thousand graduates. It is a grant aided engineering institution managed by Charutar Vidya Mandal .

College Eye


College eye is the cultural wing of BVM. All the cultural activities and festivals of BVM are organized by college eye. A notice board maintained by the college eye reflects the aesthetic sense of BVM students. Most important activity of the college eye is the Vishwakarma magazine. This is a collection of all the art, literary works of the BVM students, published annually.


Fundu


Fundu is a great cultural and entertainment week celebrated by BVM students (through college eye). Everything is managed and organized by the students. This annual activity makes college life more enthusiastic and thrilling. Both teachers and students actively participate in this festival.


Sports


All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. BVM students apart from their academic performance have also excelled in sports activities. A big playground and many other facilities support in these achievements. Tournaments are organized by Sardar Patel University every year. BVM students have a credit of being university football champions since last seven years.


Blood Donation Camp


In each semester, Blood Donation Camp is organized by college students, which is supported by the college wholeheartedly.

In addition to providing admissions to high school graduates from Gujarat, the schools offers admissions to students out of state via a competitive entrance test.
