,which ultimately led to its extintion.Further In the year 1905 Oak openings was amalgamted with the Philander Smith Institute of Mussoorie,resulting in the Philanders Smith College.Then in the wake of IInd world war Hallet War School came up on the secne at the same campus,a school originally established for the children of British high personnels who were in India at that time due to second world war.
It was once most prestigious and more British than British in Britain School.The name as we see today,Birla Vidya Mandir,came into existence in the year 1947,when shree G.D. Birla bought the estate for Rs 2.5 lacs,insipiration bheind him was ofcourse Pt. G.B. PANT.

, a philanthropist and industrialist. Pant then used the estate of Philander Smith, that had housed the Hallet War School during India's war years to create Birla Vidya Mandir.

The school is for students who want to study in Class 4th till Class 12th. Though being an English medium school, the ethos are totally Indian. Most of the times, the teachers are referred to as 'Guruji' and 'Didiji'. Prayers in Sanskrit
