Geography

RS Rangapuram sits at an average elevation of 400 meters (1315 feet). This high elevation largely protects the town against rain damage.

The town is surrounded by lands rich in limestone, dolomite deposits, and flooring stones. These resources played a major role in RS Rangapuram's economic development.

Economy

The town was developed by immigrant families from the northern areas of Andhra Pradesh. In particular, the Reddy families took a major role in developing the town into a business centre.

Stone

Raw material for flooring stones comes from mining areas surrounding the town. Around 400-500 small-scale industries mold this material into polished slabs.

Soap stone is milled into Steatite powder, which is used for enhancing the brightness of drafting paper.
